Hey whoever is out there that hasn't given up on reading my journals. Haven't written since August *gasp*. I've not updated on dA, and I blame the lack of a scanner, cause new pictures are scattered all over my room and they're not on my account yet.
So. having a normal life here, going to school and hanging out with friends. New friends too, cause I've joined the manga club and will hopefully do something useful with my art, and improve it. Like make buttons. xD
Maybe I'll update something later. Not in the mood.

Hey, I'm just loving the lazy summer days, and can't believe its already August! One more month and back to grade 9. I'm not very excited for it.

I recently got a second job (in addition to working at the beach) at my mom's office. So now I'm a salesperson AND a filing clerk. They make it sound all official, but really its a no-brain job. Just organizing folders and papers in order etcetc. Boring, but I need the money and they need the help.

So now I draw, go pier jumping, read, drink Starbucks and generally be lazy. Thats just how I enjoy my summers. xD Theres tons of different festivals going on in White Rock and Vancouver so I've seen loads of cool art, fireworks, music and bought tons of little things I really don't need.

I'm almost done my dresses so they will be up soon. Hoping that someone will finish and mail my letter soon... -___- You know who you are!!! (jk ^^)

I've had another one of those days. You know, one of those moments. One you cannot afford to lose. When you just. cannot. stop. drawing.

Its one of those days, when you feel normal but when you sit down, as soon as you set your pencil down on paper... BAM. All these ideas just flow out of nowhere, and you just HAVE to jot them down, to not forget. My brain went into overdrive and I sat there, sketching furiously like some human printer until 2 am. Unfortunately, my moments have very, very bad timing. Mostly they happen very, very late. But knowing that I could not ignore this opportunity, even though I was dog tired, I sat there, drawing and sketching all these designs for hours on end. Until I lifted my pencil off the paper and fell asleep on my desk. But even then, I dreamt of all these colorful clothes and a fashion defilé; it was like a re-run of Fashion File in my dreams. In the morning of course, when I woke up and found myself in a huge, messy pile of paper which I started looking through and was like 'When the heck did this happen?!"

What was especially great about this 'bout of creativity' was that it was a 'roductive bout of creativity'. You see, usually, I quickly sketch my ideas down in small, messy format, thinking "I'll re-draw them later, bigger and better". But I always procrastinate and never get to it. This time, even though I drew them on very crappy recycle paper (it has writing on the back but still a clean white side) the sketches turned out quite good for first attempts. I simply corrected some drafts and inked them straight on that paper. Usually it takes me about 5 papers, tracing and re-tracing the same drawing to perfect it. Blaaah, you can see why I put them off...

With this 'bout of crativity' also came a change of style. My drawings now resemble a designer's preliminary sketches, and have this edgy look. My faces and bodies are also a bit more realistic looking, and less manga. My models also came out very differently and have a sort of personality that completes each dress and look. I'm very proud of myself. For the moment.

People say you have to practice every day to perfect your drawing and technique, and it is true (and practical), but for some reason hasn't worked very well for me. My drawing tends to get worse if I attempt to force myself every day. You know, sometimes you have great days, when you sit down and draw something perfect, and other days when you crumple up paper after paper, stab the desk with your pencil and fall off your swivel chair in frustration. Well, not that extreme, but still.

I seem to have a regular cycle of these days. I have a 'bout of creativity', make loads of art, then keep trying to draw for a week or so every day. Then I get lazy and sit down once in a while, but generally do not draw for a WHILE. A few weeks, sometimes a month or two (but rarely that long). Then randomly I sit down and have another super creative day. And so on. But these creative days come between long periods of time, and I have a theory on why. Its as if my brain releases all its creativity in one shot and then it needs time to absorb more fashion influences, colors, ideas and inspirational art to build it up, and re-create it into something original. In my case, I come up with drawings. Different ones, but in 3 cases of these creative days, they were dresses. Maybe its just my thing.

So now that my creative spur is over, I need to colour all those drawings. Which just might take up all of my time until the next one. If I get around to it. xD

I know I haven't been posting anything, but I've been online lots since summer started and I got off school. I've drawn lots too recently, just haven't gotten around to uploading. I will soon though, because I'm hoping to enter 's contest. Its hard to get the EXACT colors for her character Ceci. Too bad I don't have a scanner, but luckily has one and I'll go over to her house soon. I think. Wish me luck! ^^
So I'm balancing hanging out with people, working (at this cute little store at the beach) and drawing (I have a tendency to procrastinate and abandon my drawing over breaks). Theres also a huge list of personal goals I typed up that I have been avoiding. That evil piece of paper >:C But I will work on them too

Theres a trip in grade 10 to Spain that I signed up for, and I'm saving all my money for it. And taking Spanish next year. One of my good friends is moving to Abbotsford so she's moving schools. I'm pretty sad but she promises to come visit (its not really THAT far). I'm so jealous though, because she has the option to learn japanese at her school!!! .__. sniff.
